The
RMACB was formed in June 2006 with an initial compliment of 35 musicians
- most being former members of the Royal Marine Band Service. The band quickly
grew and now its membership exceeds 60 players. The band rehearses weekly at
the RM Museum in Eastney (Portsmouth) in what is arguably, the worlds finest
band room.
The band perform about
12 concerts a year in support of Royal Marines' charities and in 2007
represented the UK at the Torrevieja Music Festival in Spain and the Falklands
25 year commemoration in London.
The RMACB have produced three CD's of popular marches and
light music and have recently recorded the 'Pompey Chimes' for
Portsmouth Football Club.
The
band is delighted to have as its president,
Admiral Sir Jock Slater GCB
LVO DL a former First Sea Lord; chairman,
Major Paddy Dunn (Rtd) and
the musical driving force is Captain
David Cole, a former Director of Music of the Royal Marines Royal Yacht
band and Central Band of the Royal British Legion. |
